I guess it is time for an update! We have been in Hawaii for almost a year now, unbelievable!! The time has flown, yet we feel more rooted in our community than any other place we have lived. Derek has been busy at work. We run into his patients everywhere, such a small small island. We will be driving down the road and he will point out the window, "there is my patient". We run into them at the beach, at church, at Costco. He assistant coached Damon's pinto team and head coached Kenyon's mustang team. He surf's when the surf is high and spear fishes when the surf is low. Free diving has become his passion. I have been busy being mom and helping the kids adjust to Hawaiian life...not too hard of a job :) Kenyon started off school year with a bang...sick the first week of school, broke his arm the second week during football conditioning...pulled through it all and had an incredible year! I owe his flawless transition to three people: Dale, for picking him up for basketball that first day and introducing him to a cackle of 9 year old boys. Booga, for uniting his football team and building his confidence. And Mrs. Corr, for being an outstanding teacher...those kids will never forget their fourth grade year! Kenyon loves surfing, Kendama, and friends. He found his baseball position this year, first base. Damon is Damon, he will thrive no matter the circumstances... never cared what was going on around him, just happy and content. He has taken to shore fishing, boogie boarding, spear fishing and running, though he claims he doesn't like it. Selah has missed her PA friends terribly, and has already had several friends move off island (a trend that will likely continue, we live in a place of many coming and many going). She tolerates ballet and loves hula. We spend many hours at the beach each week. We swim, fish, surf, cookout and continue to be grateful that we found our happy place!
