Adventures from Mt. Gretna

We decided to give Brandon (Hilary's Brother) and Kristina a Johnson- style Adventure while they were in town. We took them out to Mt. Gretna, a family favorite. The sky was dark and thunder was in the distance, we decided to risk it and hike to the tower at the top of Governor Dick. We spent a little too much time swinging from the vines!! We did not make it to the top, the heavens opened and showed B and Kristina what Pennsylvania rain is all about. We ran down the muddy trail in the pouring rain. We made it to The Jigger Shop just in time for the rain to stop and the power to go out. We enjoyed PA's best ice cream while sitting in the dark soaking wet!! We had a great time, but we will have to try again next year to get to the tower. Hopefully the power won't go out so B can get some fries and vinegar!!

Action on the Conodoguinet

Testosterone levels peaked today on the Conodoguinet (con-a-da-GWIN-et) river, as the Johnson and Zimmer-Naef boys combined for a little canoe outing. It was raining on and off, so we cut out ponchos from kitchen bags.

We anchored up on an island for a little exploring. Onlookers must have thought we were conducting some kind of weird child baptismal ceremony.

What's inside that clam shell?

Awesome!

Damon turns up the action.

Good thing they're wearing those ponchos.

Kenyon on stage

Kenyon stole the show at his first piano recital. He rocked the house tonight, flawlessly performing two songs: Mr. Flea and Twinkling Planets. Each song consisted of a whopping two notes - G and C. Way to go big guy!

First Day of Kindergarten

On the First day of Kindergarten Kenyon could not wait for the bus to come. Although it arrived a few minutes after we got to the bus stop, it felt like an hour to Kenyon. Once on the bus, Kenyon sat on the very back row next to Jacob White and said, "do you want to see my turtle?". Jacob nodded and Kenyon gave his key chain turtle (attached to his backpack) a squeeze. The turtles eyeballs bulged out of the socket and Jacob giggled. They were best friends from that moment on. Kenyon and Jacob were the only two children to ride the afternoon bus to Hillside. Hilary choked up a bit, but quickly learned that half day Kindergarten is barely enough time to workout and shower. Damon was thrilled to have all the toys to himself. He even enjoyed some one on one time with Mom while Selah napped.
